Giovanni Branchini can’t see much key movement in another transfer window but concedes some unthinkable deals may still be negotiated.
Gabriel Jesus continues to spark discussion of attention from Juventus and Giovanni Branchini, the guy who helped to take the Brazilian striker into Manchester City, admits”what’s possible”.
The South American frontman was in the Etihad Stadium since January 2017 and he dedicated to a contract extension with the Blues in August 2018, which is supposed to keep him tied to the reigning Premier League winners before the summer of 2023.
Serie A giants Juve are reported to be keen on offering Jesus the prominent role he wants along with Cristiano Ronaldo and Co in Turin.
Branchini admits that few big-money deals will likely be carried out at the next transfer window, given all that’s happening in the world, but there’s a possibility that the odd deal that looks”unthinkable” could be pushed through.
He advised Calciomercato when quizzed on whether there’s a prospect of Jesus linking up with Juve:”We are speaking about a wonderful footballer and a terrific club, everything is possible.
“The problems of obtaining power will lead not too many transfers, it’s far better to keep who you presently have in the group, there won’t be lots of movement on the transfer market.
“However, some clubs with great economic strength could result in some sensational transfers that formerly appeared unthinkable.”
Amid the talk of Jesus heading into Italy, there also have been reports of City boss Pep Guardiola being a longstanding goal for Juventus.
Questions are asked of his potential in England, amid a possible two-year Champions League ban without a contract extension, but Branchini doubts a move away from Manchester is going to be made any time soon.
He added: “I’m convinced that he will remain at City provided that City need him as long as the team wants to keep a particular kind of profile.”
“The only theory I see is that when the owners should decrease their commitment or ambitions, that I do not think will happen, he’ll accept the farewell, but he won’t ever need to leave.”
