With last season being a disappointment for both Pep Guardiola and Manchester City fans having lost out to the Premier League to rivals Liverpool and also getting knocked out of the Champions League cheaply by Lyon in the quarter-finals, City fans would expect their side to come out this season firing on all cylinders to prove that they are the best team in England.

However, this hasn’t been the case as of yet as they have looked very lack-lustre, uninterested and quite frankly weak in the Premier League in comparison to the Manchester City that we know. Although this might seem harsh as we are only 7 games into the season, City are currently placed 10th in the league have already drew 2 and lost 1 against Leicester City 5-2 due to a Jamie Vardy hattrick.

Although we do expect City to bounce back and certainly be challenging for the title this season, experts have been trying to work out what is going on in the blue side of Manchester as we are so used to them for the past three season being a high scoring, fluid, sexy football team – and quite frankly, they couldn’t look further away from this right now.
City have been struggling for goals this season in the Premier League with them only scoring over 2 goals in a match in the Premier League once this season which is unheard of. This is mainly down to the fact that they have had both Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus on the side-line injured for the majority of the season and therefore had to play players like Raheem Sterling and Ferran Torres out of position which has totally changed the dynamic of the side.
Furthermore, their defence has had a total makeover with the signings of Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias from Bournemouth and Benfica respectively and of course we all know that centre back partnerships take time to gel and that has been showing with a very leaky defence this year – especially in the Leicester game. Although in time this will become a good partnership due to the quality of player that they are, at present its going to take a while.
